I have just received this book through interlibrary loan-
Ehanna Woyakapi- History and Culture of the Sisseton-Wahpeton Sioux Tribe of South Dakota. by Elijah Black Thunder
What an amazing book it is! I contacted the publisher to ask about sharing some of it here and was told it is in its 4th printing, and still copyright protected. While I do have it (for the next 3 weeks) I can at least do look-ups for you.
Anyone researching their Sisseton-Wahpeton ancestors can still find this book for sale, or to borrow through interlibrary loan.
Update- I have my own copy of this book now, so I will be happy to do look-ups forever. Thank you to the special soul who sent this book to me. You know who you are. :-)

hermin1, this is only info from the appendix. There is no index, so if I run across these names I'll let ya know.
I called my bookseller today to see about purchasing this book. They cannot find it either new or used. I contacted the publisher again to see if I can purchase directly from them. I'll let you know what I find.

Vicki you might try the Sisseton Wahpeton College at Old Agency ( I think it might be called Agency Village now) The phone number would be listed in Sisseton SD. They used to have some copies at their library or in the bookstore.

I would like to offer my heart-felt thanks to Michael Selvage, Sisseton Wahpeton Sioux Tribe Chairman, for giving me permission to post some pages from this book to help our people. God bless his generous heart. For those of you who requested Scout Camps info I am posting pages 45-48. hopstismiley- the only mention of Susan Frenier appears on p. 47. The remainder of Brown's Scouts List which begins on p. 48 can be found on this site, so I won't duplicate the pages.

There are a lot of names on p. 63. While this is not historic or helpful info, if you get a charge out of seeing your ancestor's names in print, here's that page- Also, a wonderful group photo which includes Rev. Wm. Rogers for those of you who are researching him-

Ages ago, someone here was looking for the Constitution and Bylaws for one of our tribes. If it was the SWST you were seeking, they are included in this book. Give me a holler and I'll post them if anybody is interested.

Could you please give me the ISBN number so I can have my local bookstore order the book for me. They tried looking it up through the title and author and did not have any success.

Hi Beth, You will not find this through your book store. I tried. Amazon does not have it either- new or used. If you live near Sisseton, you can find it at the places suggested by nncy58. You might try contacting the Sisseton Wahpeton College to see if they have it in their book store. They have a web site. The publisher sells the book directly to the tribe. You might try contacting them also. Let me know if there's anything I can do to help. Vicky

I have searched and searched for Pazi's and finally I see the name in group picture. My GGGrandmother was Winona Pazi and she was married to Robert Hakewaste , he also was Robert Wilson, they were the parents of Anna Hakewaste Wilson and Charles Hakewaste Wilson. I have tried to find info on Winona and her family with very little luck. Does anyone know anything about the Pazi's? Thanks Sisco
